Meet the Midwife

I’m Amorette, but you can call me Amy.
And I’m your roadmap to a healthy baby.

I want every woman to feel as engaged, educated, and empowered as I had during my journey. Therefore, my goal is to empower you during your whole pregnancy and through postpartum. I strive to make sure you feel heard and that you are equipped with all the information you need to make the right decisions for you and your baby.

I call my services a roadmap to healthy mom and healthy baby. Like any journey in life, you have a starting location and an ending destination. You will find when planning your trip that you have several options of roads to take, places to eat, and stops for gas. Likewise, I am here to advise you on the safest route and what happens when you take a different route. After all, there’s nothing more important than a safe journey- for both mom and baby.

Amorette is Latin for “Little Love” and thus a name was born. Little Love Midwifery Services was born from a desire to support women and give them the ability to make decisions based on informed consent.

I am the grateful mother of three wonderful children. My passion has always been in healthcare and after my third child’s birth, I realized I was being called to midwifery care.

I remember a friend of mine told me that if she was pregnant then she would see a midwife and deliver at home.  At this point, I had two big kids and had no plans for additional babies. I stated that I could totally have a baby at home. I would have a midwife as well. Well, lo and behold - I found myself carrying a sweet little girl in my womb. My friend made sure to remind me about seeing a midwife.

So I did! I hired a midwife when I was pregnant with my daughter, Scarlett. She was incredible. She listened to my concerns and walked me through my options step-by-step to ensure I was confident. Everything was amazing but unfortunately she was unable to be with me the day of delivery. This happens very rarely and looking back I am so grateful she was unable to make it that day.

She sent another midwife to attend my labor and birth. My new midwife was knowledgeable and caring but we had not had the time to trust each other. When Scarlett’s heartrate became very high, the midwife decided that it was time to call in emergent transport.

I was so very upset. I felt like I had lost all the control and empowerment that I had up to this point. I feared another cesarean and refused to give birth at the hospital. A few miles from the hospital, I welcomed my “little love” into my arms a few miles from the hospital in the back of the ambulance.

I knew at that moment that I needed to be there to support women through these moments. I did not want another woman to feel out of control or unempowered due to a change in the birth plan (or place).

While my birth didn't go quite as planned and I delivered in the back of an ambulance, I had found my new purpose.

I knew I needed to become a midwife.

We may start this journey as strangers, but by the time you deliver, we’ll be family.

Here are a few of my favorite things…..

My FAMILY!

I have three wonderful children! My oldest is 16 and my youngest is 6!

CRAFTS!

I absolutely love making crafts for other people. My top craft is making wreaths.

COOKING!

I love being in the kitchen. There is definitely a therapeutic quality to cooking. My favorite is when I make my kids their birthday cakes from scratch.

My Mission

Little Love Midwifery exists so that I can help more women feel confident on their journey to motherhood.  —Amy
